Saudi government activates new universal system for Hajj packages

The Saudi government has activated a new global system for Hajj packages, designed to prevent fraud and make Hajj more accessible.

Under this system Hajj aspirants can register directly on the portal and applicants will be registered, fees will be collected and visas will be issued online.  After that, companies will need to return the existing customers with reservations.

According to the British media, there have been several cases of fraud in the British pilgrimage industry in which illegal operators have taken thousands of pounds from pilgrims and disappeared.

On the other hand, Yasmeen Qureshi, a Member of Parliament who heads the All Party Parliamentary Group for Hajj and Umrah, said in a statement that he had informed the Saudi government that the Hajj offers were not in line with British travel regulations.

He said he had written to the Saudi ministry about launching the portal in full.

Yasmeen Qureshi also said in his statement that in case of any defect in the old system, compensation would be paid.
