South Korea's first locally made space rocket successfully launched

In a second attempt after a failed launch last October, South Korea successfully launched its first home-made space rocket into space.

The Nouri rocket took off from the launch site in Guohyong at 4 pm on Tuesday.  According to the details, Al-Nuri is a 200 ton liquid fuel missile which cost Rs 1.5 billion to manufacture.  It weighs over 200 tons and is 47.2 meters (155 feet) long, with a total of six liquid fuel engines.

"This is a big step for South Korea, as so far only seven countries have launched commercial satellites," said the South Korean Ministry of Science.
