Tariq Jamil reacts to Indian leader's blasphemous remarks

Lahore - Religious scholar Maulana Tariq Jameel has condemned the blasphemous statements made by Nupur Sharma, the spokesperson of India's ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, regarding the Prophet of Islam (peace be upon him).

The blasphemous statements not only led to clashes in an Indian state as Muslims demanded the arrest of the speaker but also drew criticism from Islamic countries and institutions.

Maulana Tariq Jamil said in a tweet on Twitter that such incidents often hurt the feelings of Muslims.

He called on the Muslim world to unite at the international level against such blasphemous acts.

Earlier, Muslim countries and institutions condemned the insulting remarks of a senior BJP official.

The day before, the BJP announced that it had suspended its spokesperson Nupur Sharma due to his insulting remarks.

The Hindutva-inspired party carried out the operation amid an international diplomatic storm.  The BJP even made it clear that the party "respects all religions" and condemns the insults of anyone of any religion.
