Pakistan Railways Announces Big Discount on Tickets During Eid

Pakistan Railways has reduced train fares by up to 30 percent to provide relief to the people on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha.  An official notice said that the discount on train fares is available only during the three days of Eid.

The department started making reservations at discounted rates.  In addition, Pakistan Railways will run three special trains on Eid-ul-Adha for the convenience of passengers.

Trains will run on multiple routes, and the first special train is scheduled to depart at 10 a.m. on July 8.  Its route runs from Multan, Sahiwal and Lahore to Quetta to Peshawar.  The second locomotive will leave Karachi at 6.45 pm on July 8 and will leave Karachi for Lahore via Multan and Faisalabad.

Other Measures

Earlier this week, Lahore Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Montazer Mehdi launched a crackdown on extortionists by charging huge sums for tickets for the Eid holidays.

The department has assembled special teams at Lari Ada, Badami Bagh, Babu Sabo, Niazi Chowk, Thokar Niaz Baig, Shahdara Chowk, Begum Kot Chowk, Gaju Mata and other major bus stations.  Carriers were ordered to display a clear list of prices for customers traveling in different parts of Pakistan.

The CTO warned that the department would not tolerate negligence.  In case of non-compliance with the above protocol, the department will take action against the company by stopping the public transport vehicles.
