New MacBook Air with M2 Chip Could Launch Next Week

Apple is hosting its annual WWDC 2022 event next week, June 6, as the Cupertino giant plans to announce the next major software update for its product.  We expect to hear official details about iOS 16, iPadOS 16, macOS 13, watchOS 9, and more.

Bloomberg's Mark Grumman claims that Apple will likely announce the next generation MacBook Air with the M2 chip at an upcoming WWDC event.  Rumors are also circulating that an Apple AR headset will appear at the event, but Grumman believes that is unlikely, despite evidence of "RealOS" appearing on Apple's source code earlier this year.

However, the M2 MacBook Air has been full of rumors and has been leaking several times recently.  Grumman says Apple plans to launch a newly designed laptop at WWDC, but supply chain issues are making it difficult.  These supply problems lie at the root of the COVID-related shutdowns in China.

However, according to the developers, Apple employees are using the next generation of MacBook Air with their apps, which indicates that it is coming soon.

Other announcements of the event will include new iOS 16 features, such as the always-on display for iPhone 14 Pro models and "social networking-like functionality" in Messages.
