It is inevitable that Motorola's mid-range G line will expand further in the next few weeks.  And one of the upcoming models is the Moto G42, which was already leaked in a Nifty press release earlier this month.  The phone has also been certified by various regulatory agencies, and we now have an extra part of the puzzle.

That's because the Moto G42 prototype runs the Geekbench 5, and as always, that means its results are now available for viewing in the benchmark online database for the entire world.  Not only this, with some important explanations.

That is, thanks to the modular operation, we now know that the chipset that powers the device is Qualcomm's Snapdragon 680.  The prototype had 4GB of RAM, but the reason is that it could have a 6GB version.  As far as results are concerned: G42 scored 376 single core scores and 1,538 multi core scores.  It's not that you have to pay attention to them - it's a prototype we're talking about.

The Moto G42 should obviously be the successor to the G41 which was announced last November but was only launched in January - Motorola's launch time frames are getting really weird.  Anyway, like this model, the G42 is expected to have an AMOLED display and will run Android 12 from day one.
