Covid-19: Pakistan reports two deaths, 641 new positive cases

ISLAMABAD - Cases of COVID-19 continue to rise in Pakistan with 641 new cases reported in the last 24 hours, with a positive rate of 3.41%.

This is the first time in three and a half months that the latest Covid 19 cases in Pakistan have crossed 600.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) said in an update on Wednesday that two deaths from the infection had been reported, bringing the total to 30,395. The total number of cases rose to 1,535785.

The number of patients in intensive care was 119 patients.  A total of 18,813 tests were conducted in Pakistan in the last 24 hours.  In the past 24 hours, about 159 patients have recovered from the epidemic, and the total number of those who have recovered has reached 1,499,641 patients.

So far, 580,574 people have been confirmed in Sindh, 508,364 in Punjab, 220,000 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 136,153 in Islamabad, 35,546 in Balochistan, 43,388 in Azad Kashmir and  11,760 in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Amid fears of six waves of coronavirus, the government has begun imposing restrictions to reduce the infection rate.  Recently, authorities have made it mandatory for passengers traveling on public transport and domestic flights to wear face masks.
