Internet down in Pakistan, announces PTA

ISLAMABAD - The Pakistan Communications Authority (PTA) on Tuesday confirmed that the closure of submarine cables has affected internet service across Pakistan.

The PTA said double cuts in several cable systems affected internet services across the country.

Informed sources said that two cuts have been reported in AAE-1 and SEAMEWE-5 near Egypt.

As a result, Internet users experience slow browsing, downloading and streaming speeds, and delays in many places.

In a press release, the PTA said that two of the previously reported pieces had been repaired at AAE-1 and SEAMEWE-5 near Egypt, while the other was being repaired at IMEWE near Italy.

He further said that communication traffic has returned to normal in Pakistan.
