Pakistan Army slams India’s ruling party over blasphemous remarks against Prophet Muhammad

The Pakistani military has strongly condemned the blasphemous remarks by leaders of India's ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), a sign of strong anti-Muslim sentiment in the South Asian country, the army's media wing said on Monday.  ۔

And the Director General of Public Relations between the Services, Major General Babar Iftikhar, published a tweet which he posted on Twitter, in which he shared a message of condemnation from the Pakistan Armed Forces.

A Pakistani military spokesman said: "This provocative act is extremely painful and clearly indicates a great deal of hatred against Muslims and other religions in India."

Earlier in the day, Pakistan had issued a strong intervention in Islamabad with the Indian Affairs Minister regarding the anti-Islam incident.  The official was told that the statements were "completely unacceptable and hurt the feelings not only of the Pakistani people but of Muslims around the world".

Late on Sunday, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif strongly condemned the defamatory remarks made by the leader of India's ruling party about the Prophet of Islam.

He also demanded that the international community take note of this and strongly rebuke India.  Our love for the Holy Prophet is great.  Sharif said that all Muslims can sacrifice their lives for the love and respect of their Holy Prophet (PBUH).

Meanwhile, several Arab countries summoned the Indian ambassador to protest the BJP leader's insulting remarks against the Prophet of Islam.

Several trends were also seen on social media in Arab countries in which Muslims demanded action against the comments of BJP leaders.  Amid protests, the BJP suspended its national spokesperson Nopur Sharma.

The Modi-led ruling Indian party also made it clear that it respects all beliefs and condemns offensive remarks against any religious figure.
