Sri Lankan Muslims will not be able to perform Hajj this year

COLOMBO - Muslims in Sri Lanka will not be able to perform the Hajj because the island's citizens have been facing economic crisis since independence.

The decision was announced by the country's Hajj organizers after consultation with the Muslim community.

Last month, Saudi Arabia set a quota of 1,585 for this year's Hajj for Sri Lanka, while about 1 million foreign and local Muslims perform religious rites during the Hajj season.

Arab News quoted a message from the Salon Hajj Tour Operators Association and the Sri Lanka Hajj Tour Operators Association as saying:  The members of the party have decided to perform Hajj this year. "  To the Ministry of Islamic Religious Affairs of the country.

He said the decision was made because of the "severe dollar crisis facing the country".

The island nation has already defaulted on its debts after losing a deadline to pay off its foreign debts.

An official of the association said that the Hajj would cost 10 10 million this year, which is a huge amount, adding that Muslims sacrifice the Hajj for the sake of the homeland.
