Israel Requests Saudi Arabia to Allow Direct Flights Between Both Countries

Israel has asked Saudi Arabia to allow direct flights between Israel and Saudi Arabia for the convenience of former Muslim citizens, the country's Minister of Regional Cooperation, Isafie Faraj, has revealed.

Saudi Arabia has not officially commented on Fridge's statement.  However, this development comes just days before US President Joe Biden's first visit to Saudi Arabia.

Speaking to Israel Army Radio, Isafi Faraj, who belongs to Israel's 18% Muslim minority, said he hopes to see the day when he can go directly to Saudi Arabia to fulfill his religious obligations.

Christian Fridge added that he had officially spoken to Saudi officials in this regard.  But the Israeli minister did not provide details such as the date and location of the meeting with Saudi officials.

Saudi Arabia has allowed Muslim pilgrims from Israel to come to the country to perform their religious duties.  However, they will have to travel to Saudi Arabia from a third country.

Saudi Arabia does not recognize Israel.  Earlier, Israel asked Saudi Arabia to allow Israeli airlines to use its territory to fly to Asian countries.
