Samsung Launches World’s First Rugged Phone with 5G

Samsung recently launched the world's first rugged smartphone with 5G support called XCover 6 Pro.  Just like previous XCover phones, the XCover 6 Pro is designed for people who work in hazardous environments such as construction workers.  The phone is shockproof and can be used with wet hands or gloves.

Design and display

The screen of the phone is a 6.6-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 1080 pixels and a smooth refresh rate of 120 Hz.  It has Corning Gorilla Glass Victus + protection and comes with increased sensitivity so it can be used easily with gloves.  It also has IP68 water resistance and is MIL-810H compliant, making it as solid as a brick.

Internals and Storage

Inside, the phone runs on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 778G SoC, which brings 5G support.  It is paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage that can be expanded with a microSD card.

As for software, you get Android 12 with Samsung's One UI interface on top.

Camera

Powerful phones usually don't focus on the camera, but you can still get a 50MP primary sensor and an 8MP ultra-wide camera.  It is capable of recording 4K and 1080p videos.

Water Drop Notch has a 13MP selfie camera.

Battery and pricing

The ship has a 4,050mAh battery that can be easily removed if you want to replace the batteries on the go.  Supports 15W fast charging, but charger is sold separately.

Samsung has not yet announced the price of the phone, but based on rumors, we expect it to cost around 600 euros.
