Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy spokesman Liu Wensheng announced on Sunday that Pakistan and China would hold joint naval exercises in Shanghai in mid-July.
The exercise - codenamed "Sea Guardians-2" - aims to "jointly address maritime security challenges" and increase defense co-operation between the two allies.
Liu said it would also promote an all-weather strategic partnership, adding that the exercises were scheduled according to the current annual plan and would not target any specific third party.
The Pakistan Navy has not yet issued a formal statement on the upcoming exercises.
