In a first, Kaaba gets new cover in the month of Muharram

MAKKAH - In understanding with the yearly custom, the fabric of the Holy Kaaba, Kiswa, was supplanted by the staff of the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet Mosque on Saturday, toward the beginning of new Islamic year.

It is interestingly that Kiswa was supplanted on the first of heavenly month of Muharram as it used to be introduced on the morning of Dhul Hijjah 9 during Hajj.

The substitution of the Kaaba's Kiswa was done by a group chose from King Abdulaziz Complex for Holy Kaaba Kiswa, as the group destroyed the old Kiswa with the enhanced one.

The authority SPA news organization depicted the cycle as, "The new kiswa comprising of four separate sides and the entryway drapery. Every one of the four sides of the blessed Kaaba was raised independently to the highest point of the Kaaba in anticipation of its unfurling on the old side, and fixing the side from above by secures it and dropping the opposite finish of the side, after the ropes of the old side were released.
