Govt Announces Decision on Load Shedding During Eid ul Adha

The federal government has announced that there will be no load shedding during the Eid al-Adha holiday.  The Ministry of Energy requested electricity generation and consumption data from the distribution companies to facilitate this decision.

If the government can manage this, it will relieve citizens who suffer from prolonged power outages in the sweltering heat.  Electricity distribution companies reported a shortfall of 6,300 megawatts.

Currently, the total power demand is 26,900 MW while the total generation is only 20,600 MW.  The national grid generates 7,900 megawatts of electricity, with independent power producers contributing an additional 7,700 megawatts.

However, it should be noted that power generation from nuclear power plants only amounts to 3,130 megawatts, which further exacerbates the current crisis.
