Samsung Galaxy A24 4G review

Samsung Galaxy A24 4G review - FutureInfo

Introduction

The Samsung Galaxy A24 is probably the most affordable Samsung phone it makes sense to get.  Unlike the A10 and A00 series, the Galaxy A20 series has had some solid offerings over the years, and the new A24 4G is shaping up to be another one of those offerings.

If you're looking for an affordable phone with a smooth display, good cameras, long battery life and an attractive design - well, that's exactly what the Galaxy A24 offers.  It's certainly not a fast phone, let alone suitable for gaming, but it seems to handle everything else quite well.

Let's start with the design.  It's a traditional flat shape with two glossy panels and a matte frame.  The 6.5-inch display uses a 1080p Super AMOLED panel with a 90Hz refresh rate, which is a good deal for this price segment.

Speaking of good processors, the camera department also looks pretty good.  There is a 50MP OIS camera on the back, supported by 5MP and 2MP ultra-wide macro cameras.  There is also a 13MP selfie camera.

The Helio G99 chipset isn't really anything to brag about, but it has two fast CPU cores, so it should at least handle normal Android apps just fine.  We appreciate the 5,000mAh battery, and we expect it to shine with this chipset.

Finally, the Galaxy A24 runs on Android 13 with the latest One UI 5.1.  And it's a complete experience, not one of those "must have" apps.

The Galaxy A24 4G is not a water-resistant smartphone, which is a premium feature reserved for the Galaxy A3x and above models.  There's no 5G support, nor stereo speakers, but at this price, that's to be expected.  At least we get decent options like microSD expansion and a 3.5mm jack.

The Galaxy A24's most notable upgrade over the Galaxy A23 4G is the switch to a Super AMOLED panel and doubling the base storage.  We appreciate both.

The Galaxy A24 supports 25W fast charging, but if you don't already have a power adapter you'll need to shop around.
