Twitter is Being Kicked Out Its Office for Not Paying Rent

According to court documents signed by a judge, Twitter was kicked out of his office in Boulder after failing to pay his landlord three months of rent.

The company's operations have been in shambles since Elon Musk took over, with reports of numerous unpaid bills.  While it's not uncommon for contractors to experience payment problems during interim periods, the lack of rent payments for an extended period indicates that Twitter's situation may be worse than expected.  .

Chicago-based Lot 2 SBO LLC, which owns Twitter's office at 3401 Bluff St in Boulder, received a $968,000 letter of credit in February 2020, according to information from the Denver Business Journal and court documents.

The landlord uses this credit to cover rent rather than receiving regular payments, although the exact details of this arrangement are still unclear.  However, the letter of credit funds ran out by March, and Twitter has been unable to make any payments since then.

Assuming the rent was paid regularly using this amount, this gives us an estimate of around $27,000 per month, which highlights the financial scope of the situation.

In May, the owner launched legal action, which led to a May 31 court order for the mayor to facilitate Twitter's eviction within the next 49 days, preferably before the end of July.  The case, identified as 2023CV30342, is currently pending in Boulder County Court.

Previously, Twitter's offices in Boulder had about 300 employees.  However, due to a combination of layoffs, layoffs, and resignations, the current workforce is now likely to be less than half of that original number.

While researching the aforementioned case, TechCrunch discovered another case that corroborated a separate incident involving a cleaning company.  In this particular case, the cleaning company is asking Twitter for $93,504 in unpaid fees.
