Changan Teases Two New Cars for Pakistan

Master Changan Motors Limited (MCML) has made real progress since beginning full domestic assembly of its cars by the end of 2021. The compact sedan, Changan Alsvin, is one of the most popular passenger cars in Pakistan, while the Oshan X7 has also become a familiar one on the roads.

Building on its success and recent achievements, the company plans to diversify its lineup by launching two new crossovers in Pakistan.  Although the company did not share any details, the teaser itself revealed some hints about this SUV.

Some close observers, including carspiritpk.com, have pointed out that the disassembled SUV is the Changan CS35 Plus and Oshan X5.

The Changan CS35 Plus is a compact crossover that competes with the Chery Tiggo 4 Pro, Kia Stonic and MG ZS in Pakistan.  It has a 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine producing 158 hp, 260 Nm (Newton meters), which is transmitted to the front wheels via a seven-speed DCT automatic transmission.

MCML is expected to release the 2021 CS35 Sensation, which includes a number of cosmetic and other modifications.  It is equipped with blind spot monitoring, a panoramic sunroof, a touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, stability control, hill start assist, parking sensors and other features.

The other SUV is the Ocean X5 - a compact crossover that competes with the Kia Sportage, MGHS, Proton X70, Haval Jolyon and Hyundai Tucson.  It's a fast-looking SUV with a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, which transmits 180 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque to the front wheels via a seven-speed DCT automatic gearbox.

Oshan X7 enters its Chinese market in 2020. It is a state-of-the-art SUV with features such as intelligent driver aids, autonomous braking, blind spot detection, intelligent infotainment module, adaptive cruise control, and many more.

Price Point

Changan has set prices for both SUVs in their respective markets to compete with mid-range passenger cars.  Although MCML has yet to reveal details of the new cars, it is safe to assume that the CS35 will cost around Rs.  4 million, while the Oshan X5 will cost around Rs.  5 million

Being the latest generation SUV with amazing features and performance, both models are expected to perform well in Pakistan.
