Pakistan calls for immediate end to Ukraine war

ISLAMABAD - Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said on Tuesday that Pakistan wanted an immediate end to the war in Ukraine that Russia started in late February.

He stated this during a press conference with German Foreign Minister Annalena Birbock, who arrived in Islamabad today on a two-day visit to discuss issues of common concern with the Pakistani leadership.

He said the Pakistani government is in contact with Ukraine, Russia and other countries, adding: "We support the peaceful resolution of inter-state disputes."

On this occasion, the German ambassador said that human rights violations are taking place in the war in Ukraine.

Last week, Pakistan sent another shipment of humanitarian aid to war-torn Ukraine, including food, tent packages, blankets and other supplies.

Local media reports said a C-130 special plane carrying the second shipment of humanitarian aid to the people of Ukraine from the South Asian country arrived in Poland on Wednesday.

The Ukrainian Embassy in Poland, together with the Polish authorities, will transport 7.5 tons of relief supplies to the war-torn country.

The Kremlin's invasion of Ukraine sparked a major refugee crisis in Europe since World War II and sparked a wave of outrage around the world.
