Rising inflation posed another challenge

Urdu Bazaar publishers have expressed dissatisfaction with the printing of books for the new academic year.

A meeting of publishers was held in Urdu Bazaar under the chairmanship of President Khalid Pervez.

There is a danger of shortage of correct books in Punjab including Lahore as all the publishing houses of Urdu Bazaar have shown their inability to publish correct books for the new academic year.

He said that when bids were made with Punjab Reuters Council for printing books, the price of paper was around Rs. 50.  115 and now it has reached Rs.  225 per kg.  Introducing paper cash payments or paper price reductions.  Publishers cannot sell their homes or buy expensive printed papers and books.

If the Punjab Textbook Board does not listen, no publisher will publish textbooks and the board will be held responsible for not delivering the books to the children.
