Samsung's foldable phones are getting cheaper with each new generation, especially the Galaxy Z Flip series. Shell Foldable claims more than half of the company's sales of foldable phones, thanks to better hardware and cheaper prices.
Going forward, Samsung plans to make more affordable foldable phones available to the public, according to a new Korean media report. According to the report, Samsung is working on the Galaxy A Fold and Galaxy A Flip phones, which are expected to be significantly cheaper than their Z counterparts.
Samsung currently has about 80 percent of the foldable phone market, but the Korean phone maker is expected to face stiff competition as more competitors enter the fray. Apple is said to be working on a foldable device that is rumored to be launched in the coming years. Hence, the launch of the foldable Galaxy A series should help Samsung maintain its grip in the market.
Rumor has it that one of these foldable phones will cost as much as $767, making it the cheapest foldable phone ever. It is also cheaper than the standard flagship smartphones currently available in the market.
But since it will be part of the Galaxy A series, Samsung will likely add cheaper devices to keep the price down. Reports indicate that Samsung is planning to release the upcoming foldable devices in 2024.
