Punjab University gave good news to the students

Punjab University Union approves budget recommendations of Rs 13.864 crore, Union suspends approval of controversial university appointments.

The 1746th meeting of the Syndicate for the recommendations of the budget of the Punjab University for the financial year 2022-2023 was held under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saleem Mazhar, Vice President of the University in which the Syndicate recommended to approve the budget.  13.8 billion for the Senate.

The meeting approved the appointments made under the emergency powers of the Vice Chancellor in the light of the recommendations of the Selection Board but withheld approval of the controversial appointments.  The union also formed a committee to review the controversial appointments.  In the budget, it was decided to continue scholarships and subsidies to reduce the financial burden on students.

Punjab University will provide scholarships of Rs. 200 million.  233 million students  Scholarships of Rs. 136 million from HEC and Punjab Education Endowment Fund will also be given to university students.

Next year, the Punjab University Higher Education Commission is expected to receive a grant of Rs 2.9 billion, which is 22% of the total budget, while Punjab University will receive 78% of the budget from its own resources.  Punjab University will meet the shortfall of Rs.  941 million through cost reduction and various measures.  Research Scholarship worth Rs. 226 million has been sanctioned to promote research and culture of research.
