Saudi Arabia revises Umrah policy for Hajj season 2022

JEDDAH - Saudi Arabia has announced that only pilgrims will be allowed to perform Umrah between June 24 and July 19.

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah was instructed to resume registration for Umrah through the Etmarna app on July 19.

On Friday, the official news agency reported that a total of 214,212 pilgrims from all over the world have arrived in Medina via air and land ports to perform Hajj this year.

The Hajj is generally considered to be one of the largest religious gatherings in the world, with about 2.5 million people performing it in 2019.

But the country has reduced the number of visitors due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Meanwhile, the Makkah Transport Authority announced the use of 6 bus lines during the Hajj season.

The Royal Commission for the City of Makkah and the Holy Sites in Makkah will have a unified Transportation Center (Makkah Transportation) operating on six lanes (Roads 12, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5) in the city, in addition to the diversion.  Pilgrims from outside Mecca whose vehicles are not allowed to enter the holy sites.
