Samsung is Getting Ready to Launch Its Next Foldable Phones

The next generation of Samsung's foldable phones is expected to appear in the second half of 2022 and the launch date may be sooner than we think.  That's because the Korean phone maker has apparently begun mass-producing components for its upcoming foldable devices, according to a new report from Korean tech blog The Alec.

According to the report, Samsung Electronics has started mass production of core components of Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Z Fold 4.  The company is expected to begin mass production of the phones in mid-June.

Reports claim that Samsung will produce a total of about 10 million units for the two foldables.  70% of these units will be Z Flip 4 while Z Fold 4 contains the rest of the production.  This is because Z Flip phones have proven themselves time and time again.

However, at the moment these are just speculations and the actual production estimate will not be released till July.  But for comparison, the Z Flip 3 accounted for 65% of total production last year.

Rumors say that Samsung will increase the production of display foldable display units.  Production lines in Vietnam will be increased from 7 to 10, with production expected to reach 2 million panels in 2021, up from 1.5 million.

Samsung expects access to foldable phones to reach 1% this year if it can ship 10 million devices by the end of 2022.  Galaxy Foldables expects a 15% profit margin compared to 20% of existing foldable devices.  This is done to keep the phone within reach of the users.
